Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. Jesus Benito

Jesus Benito is an Industrial Engineer by Madrid UPM and holds an Executive MBA from IESE.

He has been an executive in world class companies such as Iberia and SAP. Founder of S&P Consulting, an SAP consulting firm later integrated in the Volkswagen Group.

Jesus is currently an entrepreneur, private investor and an active member of the IESE Business Angels Network. Involved in various startup projects he serves as mentor, advisor and director in several companies. Jesus is also a recurring speaker at entrepreneurship events.

Justo Hidalgo is co-founder of 24symbols, a platform that offers readers the ability to read and share digital books in the cloud, working in any reading device with internet connection and that gives users access to an international and multi-publisher's catalogue.

He is also a part-time Product Strategy and Innovation consultant at Denodo, and teaches Product Strategy and Innovation at the Master's Degree in Industrial Design of Nebrija University, and Technology for Managers at the Nebrija Business School in Madrid, Spain. Francisco Carrero

Computer sciences engineer. He started his first venture in 2000, developing an online news recommendation system. Currently his is the CEO of BrainSINS, a company specialized in the recommendation engines for e-commerce.

Javier Agüera

Aged 19, Javier is a young entrepreneur with 4 start-ups on his track. Best known one is the 3-year-old Geeksphone, the only smartphone manufacturer in Spain, which pioneered the mobile industry being the first European brand to launch an Android smartphone to the market in 2009. Currently, Javier holds a CTO position at Geeksphone as well as TabSolutions, and studies Telecom Engineering at ICAI.

Besides his own entrepreneurial activity, he is one of the coordinators of his university's entrepreneurs association, "Start_Comillas". Recently he was appointed as the first Spanish among the Young Advisors to the Vicepresident of the European Comission, Neelie Kroes, helping to define the Digital Agenda for Europe.

Diego Ballesteros

Entrepreneur specialised in Internet, sales and marketing.

In the past, Diego worked as Sales & MK Director at Salir.com / Niumba.com (Grupo Intercom) and Key Account Manager at Yell.
